If we see sports, and by extension electronic sports, it is by the drama . The tension generated by a tie, to see how a team is adapted after a defeat or the hope of a set full of young promises. In fact, I know someone who knows a lot of this sport that always says a very interesting phrase: _ “The matches and tournaments we see them to see who he wins, not to see who is the best, that we already know it before almost forever”_.
Those incentives are those who present the finals of the Six Masters by Rainbow Six Siege. This ko tournament organized in Spain will be the great appetizer of the Six Invitational, the World Tactical Shooter Tournament of Ubisoft, as well as fulfills the function of crutch between seasons of the Six Nationals.
And one of the faces that can best talk about this tournament is Alex Polo , Narrator and Content Manager of the competition. All a veteran of electronic sports, and who has been pulling the car from the scene for a few years. With him we have been able to chat a few hours before starting the finals of the competition this weekend.
You are a Narrator and Content Manager of the competitions. I think there is no one better to comment on what this competition is for who is not familiar.
What I like about the Six Masters Iberia is that it completes the circuit, which was a bit incomplete at a calendar level. There was a lot of distance between Spain Nationals and Spain Nationals, and that caused one of the biggest problems the community has, which is volatility. It seems that we are unable to keep a template for a year, I am not asking a miracle, I do not ask like Ferguson at Manchester United with his 18 years in the team, but he does keep the roster from one year to another.
In fact we have not kept champion during season 1, 2 and 3, and in fact there was disbanding for season 2, and that lagoon was a little bit that we had pending. That distance between a competitive season and another.
There were attempts to settle with things like the Drone Cup, but I think nothing as serious and professional as this Six Masters Iberia. It has entered well in calendar, serves as a presentation for Portugal, there is additional problems we had, as the number of equipment, which is working with the amateur and the preferred tournaments. And also, the competition itself has come out better than expected.
One of the most interesting things for the tournament is that it falls right on the eve of Six Invitational, the great international game tournament. Can it be a great opportunity for those who are more disconnected from the national scene?
They could not fall the finals at a better time. They arrive two days before the Invitational Six and we will use the DROPS of the event. That’s going to make many people come to get the drop before. They are going to connect the international scene a little with the national event, cup, and with many similarities.
If something we can take chest in Siege is how connected the national scene and the international scene is. In other games you can grow sports within your league, but there is always a stop from which you have to buy a square within a franchise competition.
Here everything is connected from the amateur of Spain, you make a team with friends this weekend, you play a prefire, you want points, you play the six masters, you get more, you go up to nationals, you want, go up to Challenger, you win, and already You are in European League. In a year, you can play a major. Other games do not have that.
The objective we have the people who work in this project is the sustainability of the scene, which is a viable project, but with the addition that if you win, ascends.
Although perhaps at a personal level, for you and all the team, the most important thing is to return to a face-to-face event such as these finals…
It is something that we missed a lot. People did not value how beautiful a LAN was, we assumed that after each competition there was an eye-friendly tournament. The Covid gave us a really blow.
Since 2019, it was the final of season 1, we are not lucky enough to get together. It will not be the same, because there are Covid protocols to avoid contagions. Obviously, there will be no public, but I think that being able to see the players and see them at camera is a very in favor point. Many things are being aligned.
Before the Invitational Six, Drops, face-to-face, Ubisoft has an important ad, the amateur scene is at a great time… I think this February can be an important point of turn.
Movistar Riders has burst the pre-phases to the final, so it is favorite. Do you see another team be able to win?
If I have to give you a favorite, based on the two phases of groups, the truth is that Movistar Riders has devastated. Only one point has been left, and it was against Rebels, current champion of Spain, although they are not at their best. Everything points to Movistar is favorite.
What’s the matter? Well, the Storytelling of the scene is that Movistar Riders arrives at the end with solvency, but then loses them. He spent in season 1, 2 and 3. In addition, they have the player who has received Sakke’s relay as far as he loses finals, until he won it with heretics, and that he is Foskito. He has played 3 finals, has lost them and is that it is at a brutal level winning MVPS… and then there is the future of the team, which will not renew with Movistar Riders, and that is being treated publicly.
The rest of the teams: Ravens has broken very strong, is the only Portuguese, and they have been keeping strategies since before Christmas, Emonkeyz had not been able to work well for work and now it seems that they are training awareness, and his Rival the current champion of Spain, Rebels, who passes through a Bask but come from a bootcamp and a visit from David de Gea.
At the level of pure Gameplay and at a competitive level, how do you see the game after all these years again content?
We have reached a point where we have enough content within the game so that you do not get bored, only by a variety of agents and maps.
As for the reworks, there are different opinions in the community. There are redesigns that go well, and others that go wrong. It is the logical when you make so many. The club with a couple of retouching, is spectacular. Coast as well.
We are at a point where what is needed, for my taste, is what is about to come. I think it’s a lack of variety of game modes, and the deathmatch is close, an ideal way to heat.
If you start playing, at this time you can only play bombs, hostage or secure the area, and are actually very similar. I think more variety is needed.
And it would also fight against one of the game problems: the entrance barrier.
Of course, sometimes you may not want to play in an intense way, you just want to hit some bullets. Because a fantastic thing that has this game is the Gunplay.
Ubisoft has detected it, it will give us a game mode, and it will give us more versatility even than the maps.
Come, to close Tell me a couple of things in which you have to set someone who is not very within the day to day of the game or the community.
The first thing in what someone returns, is that the game is at a fantastic point. We are not in metagogos as the bulletproof, who gave too much advantage to the defense.
The goal is super fun, both at a competitive level and casual. And the bugs have also been greatly reduced, from which the community complained a long time ago. The bases are, the game is at a good time, and only remains a good show.
What do you have to set? Well one of the stories is Foskito’s, the king without a crown. He has dominating the scene a long time, and has not finished with a title. They will learn a lot if they are fixed on it.
And the other narrative is rebels. A SuperTop project with David de GEA. The champion suddenly stays behind. He goes to Europe, and all have taken a quality jump in Spain just around him. If you want names, Alex, who is not usually mistaken, and then Naoresh, which started very badly but that is now of the best Supports on the scene after changing the mentality of him.
And then you goga, which is the best Spanish player in history, double champion of the world, and that now competes in Spain. I am nervous for thinking that I will see you compete live.
